There are moments in life when you desperately need direction from God. You pray. You ask. You wait. Yet instead of clarity, everything feels louder, more urgent, and more confusing.

If you’ve ever wondered why it feels hard to hear God’s voice when you need Him most, Scripture gives us a powerful answer in 2 Kings chapter 3. Through the story of Elisha and three kings facing a life-or-death crisis, we learn that hearing God is often less about urgency and more about positioning.

Why It Can Be Hard to Hear God’s Voice

One of the most misunderstood spiritual struggles is assuming silence means God is absent. In reality, Scripture shows us that emotional noise can block spiritual clarity.

Elisha was a prophet who clearly heard from God. Yet even he reached a moment where he could not immediately hear the Lord because of emotional agitation. His anger was justified, but it still interfered with his ability to listen.

This teaches us an important truth:
Strong emotions, pressure, and urgency can make it difficult to hear God clearly, even when He is speaking.

Lessons From 2 Kings 3 About Hearing God

In 2 Kings 3, three kings find themselves in the wilderness without water. They are exhausted, desperate, and facing consequences from decisions that were never meant to be made without God’s guidance.

Jehoshaphat, the one king who served the Lord, asked an essential question:
“Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord?”

This question reveals a pattern we often miss. Many people seek God after they are already overwhelmed, rather than before entering difficult situations.

Still, God in His mercy provides a way forward.

What Elisha Teaches Us About Waiting on God

When Elisha is asked for a word from the Lord, his emotional state prevents him from hearing God clearly. Instead of forcing an answer, he does something intentional.

He says, “Bring me a musician.”

This moment matters deeply. Elisha understands that he must quiet his spirit before he can receive instruction. He does not rush. He does not speak prematurely. He creates space for God to speak.

Waiting on God is not passive. It is active preparation.

Why Waiting Is Sometimes God’s Instruction

Waiting often feels like wasted time, especially when decisions feel urgent. But Scripture shows that waiting is an action that positions us to hear correctly.

Waiting may involve:

  • Stepping away from distractions
  • Quieting emotional reactions
  • Creating intentional time with God
  • Slowing down when everything demands speed

Hearing God is more important than acting quickly. Acting without clarity can lead us into battles that were never ours to fight.

How to Quiet Your Soul to Hear God Clearly

Elisha’s response gives us practical wisdom for today. If you are struggling to hear God’s voice, consider these biblical principles:

1. Reduce Distractions

Silence notifications. Step away from noise. Remove interruptions that compete for your attention.

2. Create Stillness

For some, worship music helps quiet the soul. For others, silence or nature is more effective. The goal is not the method, but the posture of listening.

3. Spend Time in God’s Word

Reading Scripture allows God’s voice to surface naturally. Often clarity comes while simply letting the Word wash over your heart.

4. Listen as Much as You Speak

Prayer is not only talking to God. It is allowing space for Him to respond.

5. Be Willing to Wait

God is never late. What feels delayed to us is often precise timing in His hands.

The Difference Between Urgency and Obedience

Urgency pressures us to act. Obedience requires us to listen.

Scripture consistently shows that obedience produces peace, clarity, and direction, while urgency often produces anxiety and confusion. When God speaks, He speaks with purpose, not panic.

Why God Often Speaks in His Presence

If you want a word from someone, you go to them. The same principle applies spiritually.

God speaks most clearly when we intentionally come into His presence. That may require stepping away from activity, expectations, and even our own emotional reactions.

The presence of God is not a place of hurry. It is a place of clarity.

When You Need Direction, God Is the Answer

If you are seeking direction, peace, or confirmation, the answer is not striving harder. The answer is drawing nearer.

God still speaks. He still leads. He still directs His people.

But hearing Him often begins with stillness.

If you need a word from the Lord, take time to get into His presence. Quiet your soul. Create space. And trust that when you are positioned to hear, God will speak clearly and faithfully.

I’m so excited about this book! I didn’t want to write something that simply told about the financial miracles God has done for me. But I wanted to practically help others know how to have the same kind of results. So this book is a playbook. Just like in sports. It will have the story of the need we faced from small to the astronomically huge and how God provided every time. Then we will give you what I call “the play call.” After you understand the Biblical method that was used you are then given a teaching on how to use that knowledge. I can promise it will give you the tools to change your situation and to realize that “You Don’t Need Money. You Just Need God.”

Good day, everybody. It is a pleasure to spend time with you in the Word of God today. If you are new to this podcast, this is the Jaime Luce podcast. We spend time digging into God’s Word, just eating it up, seeing what it has to say to us, enjoying the bounty that is found in God’s Word. I was meditating on that this morning that of all the books that have ever fed me, so to speak, things that have

whether it caused me to learn or to think or to chew on, it’s the word of God that has changed my life. And I’m sure anybody else who has made the word of God your daily bread, the same is for you. Not only does it nourish you, it grows us, it changes us, it challenges us. There is just no end to

what we can glean from spending time in God’s Word. And today we’re going to be talking about hearing God’s voice, meaning when you need a word from the Lord, how do we go about getting a word from the Lord? What does that look like in our lives? What are the challenges about that? And we see a great example of this.

in 2 Kings. So today we’re going to spend our time in 2 Kings chapter 3. If you’re somebody who likes to take notes, you’re going to find some valuable things here today. So grab a pen and some paper or your phone, something to take notes with. And I’m going to read you a decent portion of the scripture. There are many key things that are said, but I’m going to concentrate on one verse in particular today.

because I think, I think for all of us, no matter what we face in life, there can be challenges. Even if you know, you need to hear a word from the Lord, you can feel challenged to hear it. You can feel challenged on how do I get it? you can feel challenged on what is this really God. There are so many things that get, seem to get in the way.

Jaime Luce (02:29.482)
And the reason they get into the way is because we are humans with outside sensory that affect us. We are not just a spirit. And we’re gonna see how that was dealt with. And maybe that can help us today as well. So if you’ll go with me to 2 Kings chapter three, we’ll start in verse one. Now Jehoram, the son of Ahab.

Now we spent a lot of time talking about Ahab. So you know, King Ahab was the most wicked of all and Jezebel was his wife. So Jehoram’s father and mother are not great examples. He does not come from a godly line and says, now Jehoram son of Ahab became king over Israel at Samaria in the 18th year of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah and reigned 12 years and he did evil.

in the sight of the Lord, no surprise, but not like his father and mother, for he had put away the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made. Nevertheless, he persisted in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who had made Israel sin.” So again, this problem is that you have these kings who come into power

And it’s basically whatever’s going on at the head works its way down. So it’s whatever the King is doing, whatever he’s proclaiming, whatever he’s instituting, that’s what the people are doing. Now we saw through the life of Elijah that regardless of what the King was doing and the majority of the people are doing, God always has a group of people who have not bowed their knee, who have not compromised, who have held strong and faithful to God’s ways and God’s desires, the plans of God.

His commandments, but there’s the majority who don’t so nevertheless He persisted in the sons of Jeroboam the son of Nabat who made Israel to sin He did not depart from them now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder so we’re talking about different place different King Moab and They were breeders of sheep and he regularly paid the king of Israel 100

Jaime Luce (04:45.88)
thousand lambs and the wool of 100,000 rams. So not there was a tribute being paid. Think of it this way. In today’s terms, Moab would have been like a customer to a business. Not a customer, well, a customer, more like a someone they do business with. So this is more of a vendor. Okay. They, they regularly

get from them. They are normally paid by this person. So there’s a transaction happening here. They’re supposed to receive, this is regular payment they’re supposed to be receiving from this group of people, from this king, but I want you to be able to understand what’s going on. And he regularly paid the king in this amount, but it happened when Ahab died.

that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. So he’s like saying, I don’t care what the contract says. I don’t care what I normally paid you. I don’t care what you normally get from me. Okay. He rebelled. And so King Jehoram went out against Samaria at that time and mustered all Israel. Then he went and sent to Jehoshaphat, king of Judah saying,

The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab? And he said, I will go up. I am as you are my people as your people, my horses as your horses. This tends to be a, Josh was a good king for Judah. He was a really good king. The problem was he tended.

to because he had friendship with these other kings because it was still Israel. They were just in two sections at this time. You had Judah and you had Israel. And because they were brothers by blood, so to speak, Jehoshaphat would tend to help these kings even though they were not serving God the way they were supposed to, the way that Jehoshaphat was. Jehoshaphat did serve the Lord.

Jaime Luce (07:12.234)
And he did this with his father as well. And he knew even though he joined him, this was a battle they wouldn’t win. God was not in this other than to take Ahab out. This was the way that Ahab would die, going into this battle that they shouldn’t have entered into. And we see Jehoshaphat saying the same thing to his son, showing kindness to him. I’ll go with you and fight with you. Then he said, which way shall we go up? And he answered, by the way,

the wilderness of Edom. So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. So both Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom decided to help this king and they marched on that roundabout route, so whatever route they were taking, seven days and there was no water for the army nor for the animals that followed them.

I wanna, let me pause for a moment. I don’t wanna skip over this. When we go into battles that were not intended for us, we can see that there will be other issues that end up happening. So back up to verse eight, and I’m not gonna concentrate all of our time here, but I just don’t wanna skip over this. He had said, I am.

As you are my people is your people my horses is your horses then he said which way shall we go up and he said by the way of the wilderness of Edom so they’re taking along the king of Edom and they’re going by the way of the wilderness of Edom Now the king of Edom should have known okay. There’s no water out there in the wilderness but these other kings jahashifat and Jehoram don’t know this territory as well. So he says

So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom and they marched on that roundabout route seven days and there was no water. So they’ve been going about this for a week solid. They have no water for themselves. I mean, what strength is your army gonna have? And on top of the nourishment that they need, but the animals that they’re bringing with them to feed them and all, the animals don’t have water and the animals aren’t gonna survive. And the king of Israel said, alas,

Jaime Luce (09:37.518)
for the Lord has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab. It’s like the king of Israel has an aha moment of I am not serving God and now look what he’s done. He’s taken all three of us out here to kill us in this wilderness, okay? We’re gonna die out here because we don’t have any water. That’s a consequence when you’re thinking of Jehoshaphat.

because this was the, he, shouldn’t be in this predicament to begin with. And, and for, I wasn’t planning on saying any of this, so somebody needs to hear this today. There are times when you have found yourself in situations because of other people putting their needs on you and you take on their need as if it’s your need and it’s not, they’re not in the same position you are. You’re not supposed to enter into everybody’s battles all the time.

There are times when we do, when the Lord has called us to come alongside someone, but we need to know what the word of God is on the matter. Okay, so at this point in this juncture, Jehoshaphat’s the only one who serves the Lord. And he realizes, yeah, we’re in a tight spot. We’re in a bad position here. And this is what he says, verse 11, but Jehoshaphat said, is there no prophet of the Lord here that we may include?

Jaime Luce (11:21.389)
Now this is great news for Jehoshaphat. He knows exactly who this is. He watched and inquired and was blessed by the ministry of Elijah.

And he knows exactly who this is, but this is the same circumstance. He, he, he he went through this very circumstance with Ahab and he said these very same, same things to him. Is there not a prophet here that we could ask? And Ahab said, well, yeah, there’s one, but I don’t like him. He never says anything good to me. He never prophesies any good to me. And he didn’t listen to the warning. It’s like, you’re going to die. You wouldn’t hear what God actually had to say. So Jehoshaphat is.

is having to learn a lesson here that I did this and here we are in this place again and I need a word from the Lord regardless if it’s in our favor or not. The last time he asked for an answer, they were scattered. They didn’t win that battle. It was a waste of time, resources and possibly Israelite lives. By going into a battle, they were never supposed to enter, meaning Judah.

because he was king of Judah. And so we need to understand that take this to your life. Are you constantly fighting battles that are not yours? And are you losing? Is it costing you? We need a word from the Lord. Now, thank goodness, Jehoshaphat knows I need a word from the Lord, because I’m gonna die out here. I need to know, is this what God is saying? I mean, he’s even, he’s willing to receive his fate if that’s what it is, but he needs to know.

God, what do you say about this? So let’s go to verse 12. Okay, so let’s take a moment here. If you are in a situation, you’re in a circumstance that truly is possibly even life or death.

Jaime Luce (13:32.962)
I mean, they’re in a wilderness. They don’t have water. They’ve been out there for a week. There’s an army that is prepared to fight them in this condition. You also have three kings. These are men who are used to making the decisions for their nation. And I can guarantee you that there were conversations going on.

where each one is saying, I think we should do this, I think we should do that, I think we should do this. Can you imagine the turmoil and the, you’ve got egos going on here. So you have three men with power and position, all trying to figure out how to not die, how to fight a war, how to survive not having water.

Knowing they’re responsible for all these men that they have with them let alone their nations because if they lose this war what happens to the people? This is a huge problem and you have three big people three big personalities three big Men with with power and use they’re used to getting their way a king got his way and Here they are in this

situation and Jehoshaphat is trying to come forward and say we need to listen to the voice of God to two kings who don’t recognize God and The men come to an agreement. Okay, we need to hear this because we’re desperate and sometimes sadly We don’t we’re not ready to listen to God till we’re desperate that this should have happened on the front end Jehoshaphat on the front end should have been saying should I go join him in this?

Military venture should I be at I mean he’s doing it now. Thank God I’m glad he’s seeking the Lord and if you are too and you’re in a situation good, that’s good Let’s just learn from this. We have to be able to say Let me learn from the circumstance that I’m in. How should I be addressing this? Maybe you’re facing something right now that you aren’t quite in it yet and you have the opportunity to inquire of the Lord before Take it

Jaime Luce (15:50.626)
Take that opportunity before. Okay. So, but you have two Kings who don’t serve God, one that does, and they make a trip down to see Elisha. Now this is important because you have to understand the pressure they’re under. They have to take a trip to find this man. That takes patience and that takes waiting. Now, if you think about the word wait,

Wait is a very interesting word. has several different meanings because you have to wait and waiting can feel like a waste of time, just waiting. But waiting isn’t always action-less. Many times waiting is full of action. You’re just waiting. For an example, someone who serves. Your service is

predicated upon waiting on the instruction of the one who gives you that instruction, but you wait on them. You are coming to a beckon call. You are ready and in an active form waiting to hear what your instruction is. Waiting, it’s a verb. Sometimes that verb means to sit, but sometimes it’s to take action. And you have to wait.

in the patience that is so hard to feel peace in when you are faced with something that feels like it is life and death in your face clamoring for your attention. It needs a decision now. And if you are feeling like I am at the end of my rope, I need an answer right now. The pressure’s on. People are waiting. We have to understand that when it comes to hearing the word of God on something,

It is more important that you hear God’s instruction than it is to act fast. Sometimes God will move fast and speak fast, and sometimes he does not. And it is imperative that we wait on the Lord. Wait to get his response. Wait on him. Do the necessary steps to get a word from the Lord.

Jaime Luce (18:16.29)
That can take time. You have to make time, find ways. We’ll get to that in just a moment. I don’t wanna jump ahead of myself.

Jaime Luce (18:30.334)
End of verse 12. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Enam went down to him They had to do something on their part to hear a word from the Lord and so will you verse 13? Then Elisha said to the king of Israel What have I to do with you? I mean right off the bat Elisha is upset Seeing Jehoram has set off a firestorm of emotion

in the heart of Elisha. He knows everything that went down with Elijah and his father and his mother with Ahab and Jezebel. He knows about the way that they attacked the prophet of God. He knows about the way they would dismiss the word of God. He is fresh off of knowing what has just happened with his father in killing Naboth to take his vineyard and Jezebel stirring him up to do it.

and all the wickedness that she did to lie and bring false accusation and to murder Nabat. I mean, this is all very recent in his life. And here, like the goal that you would come to me, that Elisha is feeling, that you would come and present yourself to me because you don’t serve the Lord. So why would you come to me? I mean, there’s so much that comes up in Elisha. What have I to do with you?

Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother. But the king of Israel said to him, no, for the Lord has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab. So he is beseeching Elisha. He’s crying out to Elisha by trying to get him to see and understand, do you realize there are three nations at stake? All of these people.

especially the people of Israel and Judah saying that you are one of them and and we’re gonna all be destroyed if you don’t hear me out if you don’t give me some of your time we’re in trouble I recognize that God has called us out to this place and he has allowed this and and I’m we’re dead if we don’t get a word from God he recognizes the issue and he is totally hoping that by presenting this problem

Jaime Luce (20:58.318)
to Elisha that Elisha will have mercy and listen to him. Let’s listen to how he takes it.

Verse 14, and Elisha said, as the Lord of hosts lives before whom I stand, surely were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you. He, I mean, he has no problem telling him how he feels about this man.

how he feels about his leadership and being king, how he feels about his adulterous actions and serving other gods. He has no regard for this man. He wouldn’t care what the consequences were. He has that much disdain. It wouldn’t matter what happens to all Israel. I will not help you. You are, I will not align myself with you. I mean, he’s really, he’s been stirred to anger. Now here’s the issue.

You can have a righteous anger. You can truly be moved in your emotions.

for really legitimate reasons. But that anger has things tied to it, has things tethered to it that can be a consequence you have to deal with and think about. So he says, if it were not the fact that I have regard for King Jehoshaphat, because he knows he serves the Lord, he cares about that. So I will listen to you only because this man, this other man is standing here. Boy, does it matter.

Jaime Luce (22:36.29)
who you surround yourself with. This could be really bad for Jahoshaphat and really good for Jehoram and the king of Moab just because Jahoshaphat’s there. But Jahoshaphat could have paid serious consequences for being around the wrong people. Can you see both sides of this? Make sure you’re surrounding yourself with the right people. Make sure you’re where you’re supposed to be.

You your relationship with the Lord, but then make sure you are surrounded by other godly people So he says if it weren’t for him, I would not even speak to you I wouldn’t even look at you. Okay, I wouldn’t even see you. I wouldn’t give you five minutes verse 15 But now because he recognizes jahashifat He recognizes that the jahashifat needs a word from the Lord Jahashifat needs this the people of Israel need this the people of Judah need this

But he’s angry. So look what he has to do. He says, but now bring me a musician. Then it happened when the musician played that the hand of the Lord came upon him. This is the verse I wanted to spend some time with you on. Hi, my name is Jaime Luce.

I wanted to share with you some information about a brand new book entitled, You Don’t Need Money, You Just Need God. It’s a playbook for miraculous provision. And I want to share it with you because it solves the problem we are all facing right now. The economy is going crazy. Gas prices are soaring. There’s wars and rumors of wars. We’ve got everything hitting us all at once with interest rates rising. You need to know what to do. And so many times we think we need the money.

but you don’t need money. I’m telling you the answer is you need God. And that’s exactly what we want to teach you through this book. We’ll give you practical ways to know what to do and how to do it so that you get answers now. You can find my book on Amazon. You can also go to jamylouc.com. can also find this book at youdon’tneedmoneyyoujustneedgod.com. This book is available today. Because of

Jaime Luce (24:54.156)
what has happened in the heart of Elisha the prophet the one who does hear from God the one who’s before the Lord of hosts whom I stand the one that that is Given his life to be the mouthpiece of God to say yes, I can hear from him and I can speak for him the one who people pay attention to his words because they have a huge

life and death consequences attached to them. This man feels so agitated and so angry that he can’t immediately hear the voice of God. He’s not in a frame of mind to hear God. The man of God, the prophet of God, feels so much anger in his flesh and in his emotions that he knows they’re a barrier. I can’t hear from God right now.

Boy, does this need to be a lesson for us. When we’re trying to get a word from the Lord, when we need to hear from Him, our emotions can really get in the way. We can really be dealing with so much noise and clamor and so much responsibility and danger that we are so worked up. We are praying, crying out to God, need to hear from you. And we can’t hear.

We’ve got too much going on emotionally and internally that we can’t hear. It’s a stoppage. It’s a blockage and the prophet knows it. This we need to learn from for our own lives. Now there are many ways. I’m going talk about a couple of ways today that we can do what Elisha did. But what he chose to do was get a menstrual.

This is very akin to when Saul needed David to come play his harp. He needed to bring peace to his mind and to his spirit. He needed rest to settle in. Now remember, they need an answer quickly, but they’re being forced to wait. The prophet is being forced to wait, waiting on God to get an answer.

Jaime Luce (27:13.718)
And he knows I can’t get an answer until I get this right. I got to get this internal thing right. I got to get these emotions under control. I got, and you can’t do it without the Lord, right? So he uses ways to help himself. And he calls a minstrel to play and to quiet himself. And he stays in that place of being ministered to by the music until he’s in a place.

that he can clearly hear what the instruction of the Lord is. Now bring me a musician. Then it happened when the musician played that the hand of the Lord came upon him.

If you need a word from the Lord today, if you need direction, if you’ve had difficulty hearing the voice of God, the waiting time is where you take action steps to put yourself in a position to hear from God. Sometimes we can be going about our day and all of a sudden the Lord just speaks to you. He just dropped something in your spirit.

He brings back a scripture that you read, but sometimes, many times, it takes us having a relationship with the Lord and getting in His presence so that all the other things that are trying to grab our attention, the phone that you’re constantly looking at, even when you’re trying to pray and you see notifications going off, put that thing away, turn it over, turn volume off.

If you have it on vibrate, go put it in the other room. Don’t let distractions. This is the whole point. If you want to hear from the Lord, then you need to get where you can hear from him. You know, the first thing that happens to me, I mean, the minute you say in your head, I’m going to go sit and read the word. You think of a million things you need to do. A million things that you need to do. There is such spiritual warfare that comes against you.

Jaime Luce (29:29.036)
getting with God so that you can actually be mentored by God, stewarded in His word, to be taught His ways, to be led, to receive help, gain ministry. There is spiritual warfare and you just think it’s all these random thoughts. Yes, we take those thoughts captive. You know how you do that? If it’s this practical, put the phone away, turn off the TV.

Go into a room, close the door, get your Bible and be determined to stay there until you wait on the Lord, wait in his presence.

Elisha gets the menstrual and gets the music playing and quiets the anger that’s happening inside of him. He’s not bad for having anger. It was right to be angry with this man. He’s right to be angry with this circumstance. Every bit of his anger is there’s nothing in it that’s wrong that he’s angry, but he knows the anger is going to stop him because he’s in his flesh. How am I going to hear from God in this condition?

And so he knows I’ve got, I’ve got to get away with God. I’ve got to quiet this clamor. I’ve got to stop the noise so I can hear from God. And you’ll have to do the same. If a prophet of God had to do it, Elisha who had a double portion of Elijah had to do it. My friend, you and I have to do this. We have to do this. And he gets quiet. He gets alone with God in listens. And not only that, think about this.

They’re in His presence. They are all being ministered to. They are all watching and learning and receiving instruction in this moment. This is important. Jehoshaphat needed to learn this. Come before God, get in His presence, wait on Him. Let the music turn on worship music and do yourself a favor.

Jaime Luce (31:34.85)
Get some music, sometimes, you know, music with words, that’s fine, but many times you need music with no words. If he had a minstrel, an instrument, because the words will start singing the songs and we’re no longer listening, we’re just singing. There’s a difference. And you want to make sure that you are in a position to listen.

Now, sometimes the words of a song will minister to you. They’ll bring an answer to you. understand that, but there are times when you really need to just let the noise and other voices come to a stop. Just shut those mouths. No one else is talking. You are in a position to hear. And so you set yourself in that position. Now for some.

Music is actually a distraction. Some people prefer the quiet. Get in a quiet place then. That’s why so many people love nature. They go for walks just in nature so that they can hear from the Lord, that they can get away from distraction. And that somehow takes away the distraction. You know you. What you need to take the time. Now people who do that, it takes time to do that.

If you might have to drive to a place to do that, you might have to go down to the prophet. So you might have to go somewhere. You might have to quiet yourself. Get where it’s quiet. For many, for me, the best way is for me to get in a quiet place, but then to pull out his word. I just sit and I just began to read his word. Just read his word. I’m not looking, for dissection.

At that time, I’m not looking to understand the context, so to speak. I’m just reading his word, letting his word wash over me. So many times, then as I’m reading something has sparked, I’ll hear him. All of a sudden he’ll just download something to me. Sometimes it comes in the form of real focused prayer, where you just spend time praying.

Jaime Luce (33:58.786)
Just prayer is a two way street. There is a time in prayer to be praying words. And there is a time that you sit and you in that prayer time, you are listening. You are listening. We know in every relationship, this is how it works. If you don’t ever spend time listening, really just listening, then you’re not really in a relationship that’s viable for both because someone who only talks

cares only about their own circumstance and their own and their the Lord might have an answer in an instruction for you about something you’re dealing with and you have to be able to hear what he’s telling you about other people, about what they’re dealing with, about what they’re feeling. So that brings clarity to you on how you’re supposed to act and respond and conduct yourself to know timings. You have to listen. Don’t

Don’t be so busy talking, talking, and then not giving the time to listen.

It takes patience. You have need of patience and patience has a perfect work that it works out in us. Waiting on God. If you wait on God, you won’t be late. It won’t be, it won’t be too late. It will be right. It might be what you feel is the last moment, but it will be on time. It will be on time.

You can know that God knows exactly what he’s doing. He has your times in his hand. He knows exactly what you need when you need it. Make time. Be patient.

Jaime Luce (35:47.006)
If you need a word from the Lord in the pressure that you feel to get it right now in God’s kingdom, it’s always like opposites. You think I need it now, I need it fast. And he’s saying slow down. What you need is my presence. What you need is to not feel what you’re feeling right now. What you need is to shut the mouth of even your own emotional state. Even what your body is screaming at you.

You need me more. You need my voice more. You need the voice of the Lord more.

Jaime Luce (36:26.742)
I really believe this is why so many times we see it in so many forms in scripture by why when God says ask and knock and seek and that those words actually are action words, which mean they are continual words. They keep knocking, keep asking, keep seeking. But then we know that he will open, we will find, he will answer, right? So we need to keep doing those things. Why do we need to keep doing those things? Why is there an

action that needs to take place on our part so that we can receive what God has for us. Do you realize Jesus even did this? The people would press against him, the crowds would press against him, and the disciples would have questions and there’d be so much and what would Jesus do in response to know what to do, to know what the plan was, to know how to deal with stuff. He would get alone with God to pray, he would go away to a wilderness, to a quiet place.

a place where he could put all that aside so he could hear God. There are natural things we need to do in order to tap into the supernatural. Even Jesus did this. He used mud, a natural thing, to put on a blind man’s eyes in order to make the blind man see. He told someone to go wash, go wash, and then use natural water, take a trip, take the time.

Go wash, then you’ll get healed. He waited four days, took some other trips, healed some other people before he made it to Lazarus, took a journey. They had to unbind him. There are so many things that the natural requires of us that go hand in hand. We are natural beings and we have the ability to tap into the supernatural by the Spirit of God.

by what the blood of Jesus, by everything that he has provided for us in our salvation. Answers that you need supernaturally might come by natural means of things that you need to do. Before Elijah called down fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice, had to rebuild the altar. God will give us instruction of what to do in the natural and getting away to come into his presence is one of those things.

Jaime Luce (38:53.666)
You have to put your, think of Mary and Martha. Mary had to sit and wait at Jesus’s feet. That waiting to hear what he would say, to allow the time to actually hear his instruction, according to Jesus was more important, was more important than all the activity and all the busyness and all the clamor that Martha felt.

and all the things she was doing. She was rushing to take care of it. And we can get so frenetic and so panicked when we deal with things and start running around just doing stuff. You end up in battles you shouldn’t be in. King Jehoshaphat and the king of Moab, or sorry, the king of Edom were in battles that they were not supposed to be in. You can’t just run around doing a bunch of stuff without first taking the time.

to get into God’s presence. This would be a great practice every day. Lord, before I start this day, I’m going to go take at least 10 minutes. Quiet my mind while it’s before the day has really, you know, jumped in and closed in on me. If you have a plan for me today, would you show me what that plan is, God? Let me spend some time in your word to see if you have instruction for me today.

Do I even go this way today? Before you make plans for all the things you do, Lord, do you even want me to do this? Should I be doing this? Should I be going here? Should I be with these people? Should I be aligning with that? Should I sign that contract? Should I make a deal with this person? Should I actually be in relationship with this person? We need to be in a position of understanding that we are natural.

And we need to take the natural steps to pull away, to get into God’s presence. If we’re going to hear his voice. So the instruction today folks is if you need to get a word from the Lord, you first need to get away into his presence. You need to come into his presence to get a word from him. Makes sense? If I want to ask right now, if I wanted to speak to my

Jaime Luce (41:19.444)
mother and get a real word from her, I’d have to get in her presence. mean, technically, yeah, I can make a phone call, but you know what I mean. When you want to, when it’s important, you don’t want a text message. You want that person to be with you. You want them to help you. You want to go get in their presence. So take a lesson from the word today. You’re spending time right now. Maybe the Lord’s speaking something to you right now. Let’s get

into his presence. Maybe you need to call from some quiet music. Maybe you need to get into a quiet place. Maybe you need to dig deep into his word, into a focused time of just meditating on God. Maybe you just need to sit and think about how great God is. Maybe you need to shut the voices off and all the anger or all the confusion or all the distress.

By sitting and thinking about how good God has truly been to you to remember all the times that he’s been there for you and brought deliverance to you. And by doing that, you quiet your spirit. Your nervous system can just kind of reset and get calm so that your ears can all of a sudden, hey, I can hear again. Thank you for your peace, Lord. Thank you for your presence, God.

What do you say? What should I do?

I guarantee you, if you will get into His presence, He will give to you the blessing that you need. Whether you needed peace and that was what you needed. Whether you needed instruction. Whether you need correction. Whether you need the blinders to come off so you can see clearly. Whatever it is that you need. The Lord is the answer. Jesus is always the answer.

Jaime Luce (43:20.802)
His presence is always the answer. Let me pray for you today. Father, we just thank you that you have made a way. You’ve made a way for us to be able to speak to you, God Almighty, and to be able to get the answers that we need for the situations that we are facing. Father, I pray right now for every person who has a need.

who needs to hear your voice, that you would cause all of the voices and the noise to be quieted, that even in this moment, that they would receive the blessing of your peace, that patience would fall on them as they wait on you, and that they would clearly hear, this is the way, walk ye in it.

Father, I thank you that you do all things well. I thank you that you are never late. You are always on time. I thank you that you said that if we would ask, you will answer. Help us Lord to do what we need to do so we can hear your answer. Your answering, we just need to make sure that we come into a place that we can hear you. Show us what we need to do today, Father.

to be able to do the very thing that you have set forth for us to do. And when you answer, Lord, we will remember like the one leper who returned and said, thank you. Thank you, Father, for all that you have done. May they be blessed today and go in your strength and in your power. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Thank you for taking time in the word today. I pray this was a blessing.
