What the Widow’s Oil Teaches Us About God’s Provision

There are seasons when life doesn’t feel fresh or new, no matter what the calendar says. You may have stepped into a new year still carrying burdens from the past. Debt you didn’t expect. Circumstances you didn’t create. Consequences you’re now responsible for, even though you didn’t cause them.

If that’s you, I want you to know this message is for you.

In 2 Kings 4, we find the story of the widow’s oil, and it is one of the clearest pictures in Scripture of how God responds when faithful people find themselves in impossible situations.

The Widow’s Oil and Unfair Circumstances

The woman in 2 Kings 4 is introduced simply as “a certain woman.” She isn’t named. She isn’t famous. She isn’t powerful.

She is just someone in need.

Her husband had served God faithfully and feared the Lord, yet he died in debt. Now the creditor is coming to take her sons as payment. She is facing loss on top of loss, and none of it feels just.

Many of us know what that feels like.

You can do the right things and still find yourself dealing with consequences you never asked for. Scripture doesn’t deny that reality. Instead, it shows us how God meets us there.

God Sees Faithfulness Even When the Outcome Feels Wrong

One of the most important details in this story is that the widow reminds Elisha of her husband’s faithfulness. She is essentially saying, “You know how he lived. You know he feared the Lord.”

God sees faithfulness that others may overlook.

Even when circumstances suggest failure, lack, or loss, God does not forget obedience. Scripture consistently shows us that God accounts for every act of faith, every sacrifice, and every moment of obedience, even when the outcome seems delayed.

“What Do You Have in Your House?” God’s Question Still Matters

When the widow cries out for help, Elisha does not immediately perform a miracle. Instead, he asks a question:

“What do you have in your house?”

Her answer is simple. “Nothing… except a jar of oil.”

This is where many of us get stuck. We look at what we have and dismiss it as insignificant. But God often begins miracles with what looks small in our hands.

God’s provision frequently starts with participation. Not because He needs our resources, but because obedience creates partnership.

Obedience Is How We Partner With God’s Provision

The widow is given instructions. She must borrow empty vessels, shut the door, and begin pouring.

This is not passive faith. This is active obedience.

God often answers prayer by inviting us to step into obedience, even when we do not yet see the outcome. Obedience positions us to receive what only God can do.

And here is something powerful to notice: the oil only stopped flowing when there were no more empty vessels.

God’s supply was not the problem. Capacity was.

God’s Provision Does Not Stop at “Enough”

When the miracle is complete, Elisha tells the widow to sell the oil, pay her debt, and live on the rest.

God did not merely rescue her from crisis. He gave her sustainability.

This is how God works. His provision is not just about surviving a moment. It is about restoring peace, dignity, and stability.

Scripture tells us that God does exceedingly and abundantly more than we ask or think. The widow’s oil is a living example of that truth.

When You Don’t Have a Perfect Past, God Still Makes a Way

Some people read this story and think, “That doesn’t apply to me. I haven’t been faithful enough.”

But the good news of the Gospel is that we do not stand before God in our own righteousness. We stand in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Because of Jesus, we have access to God’s provision, justice, and mercy, even when our past is imperfect. We are not disqualified from help when we cry out to God.

God’s Word Still Works Today

This same God who provided oil for a widow is still providing today.

Whether you are facing financial pressure, emotional exhaustion, relational strain, or spiritual uncertainty, God’s Word has not changed.

The question is not whether God is faithful. The question is whether we are willing to partner with Him in obedience when He speaks.

What to Do If You Need God’s Provision Right Now

If you find yourself in a difficult season, here are a few things to consider:

  • Cry out honestly to God about your need
  • Ask Him what you already have that He wants to use
  • Be willing to obey even before you see the outcome
  • Trust that God’s provision often begins small but does not end there

God sees your situation. He sees your faithfulness. And He knows how to make a way where there seems to be none.

I’m so excited about this book! I didn’t want to write something that simply told about the financial miracles God has done for me. But I wanted to practically help others know how to have the same kind of results. So this book is a playbook. Just like in sports. It will have the story of the need we faced from small to the astronomically huge and how God provided every time. Then we will give you what I call “the play call.” After you understand the Biblical method that was used you are then given a teaching on how to use that knowledge. I can promise it will give you the tools to change your situation and to realize that “You Don’t Need Money. You Just Need God.”

Jaime Luce (00:08.706)
Welcome to the Jaime Luce podcast. Happy new year. I know we’re fast and furious into January and it’s one of those times where we’re very purposeful, which is a great thing. But I’ve been thinking about the people who have what I would call carryover from 2025. There might be some things that are hanging on that

you’re wishing that the new year would mean fresh and brand new for you, but it doesn’t feel fresh and brand new for you. And we are in second Kings today. We’re going to be talking about the widow woman and Elisha and the widow’s oil to be specific. And as I’ve been thinking about

this story, kind of if we zoom out, I guess, and look at all of second Kings, there’s a theme, there’s probably multiple themes, but one of the ones that I see over and over and over again is the opportunity to partner with God by obedience. I don’t know that there’s another way to do that because

whenever we are aiming at a goal or asking God to answer something and we don’t know what to do and we’re asking him for answers, there at some point if you hear him there will either be instructions or there will be things said that you have to come into agreement with by the Lord, by his word. And that almost always

means there’s something we’re supposed to do, which is an act of obedience. And there is over and over and over again in the lives of all of these people, an act of obedience that is in, they’re invited, I should say, into obedience. And so as I was reading this story today,

Jaime Luce (02:28.632)
Boy, it really resonated with me because I don’t know about you, I am pretty confident that at some point in each one of our lives, we have found ourselves in times or circumstances or maybe even consequences that we don’t feel we’re responsible for, but we’re in them. That maybe we didn’t necessarily

create those, that we are affected by those, but we didn’t make the circumstance and now we’re dealing with it. For instance, if we want to go big scope and look at the world, we’ve got stuff going on right now where there has been a regime change and the removal of a leader in Venezuela.

And there are people who are affected by that on both sides. If you have somebody, let’s say you are just somebody who’s walking down the street. I’ve seen actual videos of this, minding your own business, doing nothing wrong, just walking down the street and a criminal come and literally attack you for no fault of your own. Now you are paying the consequences.

of what’s happened to your body, maybe if something was stolen and sometimes life is taken and the family who wasn’t even there are now dealing with it. We can all be affected by things and even close to home, things that happened in our home. There can be things that have happened in the home and you didn’t create that, but you’re now affected by it.

And those times can be really, God, they can be emotionally difficult. can be exacerbating. They could be frustrating. They can feel so unfair and you can feel like you have no way to deal with it or you don’t know how to deal with it. And the only answer, which is always the only answer is to look to God.

Jaime Luce (04:53.166)
to look to our Father, the one who has the answer, the one who can change things, the one who can make things different for us. And we’re gonna see that today. And you’re gonna see how, there’s a couple things we’re gonna see. And one of them, I’m just gonna kind of say it as an overview. I may or may not dive into it real specifically, so to speak, but there are generational things that your…

family could have passed to you good or bad, good or bad. But when it comes to the generational blessing, when you had a praying parent or a praying grandparent, somebody who believed God to see certain things happen, and they may have passed from this life and never saw it, but you are witness to the fact that God did answer that and God took care of it.

and they will know in heaven, they get the reward in heaven for that. We have the promise that when we are praying for things that we may never actually see the answer to. If we are praying according to God’s word, then it’s His will. And if we’ve been praying for those things, we can have the assurance even if our eyes don’t see it that God’s word cannot fail. It cannot fail. It will accomplish what it was set out to do.

That is really encouraging. That is really good news. So no matter what’s hanging on from the past year or maybe even years, I want to give you some hope today. And I want to show you how good our God is and that you actually have a position to take and some authority to walk in.

according to God’s word to pray for those breakthroughs and changes in your life, whatever that you have need of today. So let’s get into the word. Let’s go to second Kings chapter four. It’s just seven verses. I’m gonna read them to you first and then we’ll dive in. It says, a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha saying, your servant, my husband is dead. And you know that your servant feared the Lord.

Jaime Luce (07:11.33)
And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves. So Elisha said to her, what shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in your house? And she said, your maid servant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil. Then he said, go borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbor’s empty vessels. Do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons. Then poor

it into all those vessels and set aside the full ones. So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her and she poured it out. Now it came to pass when the vessels were full that she said to her son, bring me another vessel. And he said to her, there is not another vessel. So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God and he said, go sell the oil.

and pay your debt and you and your sons live on the rest. It’s a great, great miracle. So many things to be pictured by, by the oil, oil meaning anointing and the beautiful provision and healing that the oil can represent. But I want to concentrate today on the relationship between this woman, her husband,

who’s now dead, this husband’s relationship with the prophets, specifically Elijah, and his relationship and his life in general. So in verse one, I kind of love this because this happens a few times in scripture, it says, a certain woman, we don’t get her name, we don’t get what tribe she’s from, we don’t get where.

She specifically lives, though we could probably do a little deducing here. But in this particular verse, that’s all we see. She’s just a certain woman, a certain woman. The root, I looked this up because this intrigued me because it’s just a certain woman. She was just a certain woman. That root means one. She’s just one woman. The other root of that word is another.

Jaime Luce (09:37.61)
It’s just another woman. And whether you’re a woman or a man, it’s you’re just another person. just, you’re no one that is got significance by name, by recognition, by title. You’re just another person. This is really good for us because most of us fall into this category. We’re just another person.

We’re just us. There’s nothing special. There’s nothing noteworthy. We’re just living our lives and we have a major problem and we need God to fix it. And you don’t have to be some superstar in Christendom in order to get answers from the Lord. You are His child and He loves you. So even if you’re just another woman, just another man, just someone, just one, you don’t have a bunch of people with you to help you. You’re by yourself. You’re just one person alone, feeling lonely.

One, just one. This is for you. This passage is for you. This passage is for me. So she was just another woman. But look what she says, knowing that she’s just another woman. A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets, which is like the name of a group. These were, you see them in scripture.

multiple times, like when Elijah was gonna go up in the whirlwind and Elisha’s following him and there’s a group of prophets that gather and they say, don’t you know that, you know, that the God is taking your master today? And he says, yes, be quiet, I know. This was the group of prophets talking to him. And it looks like there was a couple different ones. We know there’s a group who was over at Jericho and then there was this particular group.

Well, I could be, this could be the Jericho group. Anyway, there’s two groups. I can’t remember the name of the little town that the other ones were in. I might see it in my notes in a minute in case I wrote it down. But we have these couple of groups of prophets and they kind of live together. They work together, they live together, they studied together. They were like a family. And there was a point when Elisha crossed back over and he asks the group of

Jaime Luce (12:00.398)
prophets that he’s amongst as he’s crossing over back over the Jericho from Jericho is that from the Jordan, they’re saying, would you stay with us? And so you can see that Elisha didn’t necessarily stay amongst this group, but he was well known amongst amongst this group. And they all understood that he had received a double portion and they understand his tie to Elijah who they had great respect for as well.

So we’re gonna see more of this and why this is important, but she says to Elisha, this was my, I’m a wife of one of these men amongst this group. And she says to him, she cried out to him. So she’s desperate. She cried out to him and she said, your servant, my husband is dead. So she’s causing him to have some ownership in this. She’s saying, this is

This man, you know, he’s part of a group that served you, your servant, my husband is dead. So she’s making sure that she is having this groundwork laid to tell Elisha what she’s gonna tell him. And she’s saying, have connection to this. You have some…

I can come to you legally and kind of expect something from you because you’re tied to this. Now this works for us too, because we can say, Lord, you see my circumstance. Now, whether it’s you or whether it’s a spouse or a child or a parent or whatever the circumstance is, if somebody has been serving the Lord,

Somebody has been serving the Lord in some capacity Who’s been living their life for the Lord? Then we know okay, there are some benefits The scripture tells us that Forget not all his benefits when we when we are serving the Lord when we give our lives to God when we are following What God has for our life there are benefits that we get to lay hold of because of our position

Jaime Luce (14:25.314)
We are positioned closely to him and we have walked a life that means I have access. It’s like a door. I have access. I have the key into this room that will help me. Okay. So your servant, my husband is dead. Then she says, and you know, I love this, you know. So she’s bringing to remembrance saying, you can’t deny.

You know, you know that your servant feared the Lord. You know he loved God. You know. Now, what can we say about the fact that she’s saying he knew? He did. And what’s interesting is the original King James, this is King James when I’m reading, but the original, the older version, King James, said that he did fear God.

And that’s a very specific thing she’s saying. He did fear the Lord, which means to come to pass, to happen, to be, to become, and to have. Now think about those words, to come to pass, to happen, to be, to become, and to have. Did fear means you

You know, you saw in his life, you saw the evidence, things came to pass in his life. You saw it. You saw things happen that are proof he became. You were witness to who he was to be. You saw what he had and what he used and what he did. This word that she’s saying is you were a witness.

to how he feared the Lord. You saw his life. There was plain evidence for you to see.

Jaime Luce (16:32.36)
So, and we, I’ve done this in my prayer life. I hope that you can clean this and remember this when you’re praying, if you don’t already do this yourself. But when I pray, I do like Cornelius, know, when the scripture says that his alms and his offerings have come up like an offering to the Lord. And because of that, God sent the Holy Spirit. This is how I approach prayer many times.

I have used, there’s not formulas. I don’t want to call things formulas. I just know it’s in scripture. So I stand on that. And there are things in scripture that you want to emulate and things that you want to learn from that you don’t want to emulate. You want to learn from them and not do those things. But this is one of those things where I say, Lord, you know that I love you. You know what I did here and what I did there. Remember that you saw.

the obedience of this or that. And if I’m praying for somebody else, I do the exact same thing for my husband. do it when we’re talking about business. I remind the Lord of all of his giving, how he’s taking care of things that people haven’t seen that have gone, gone unnoticed by man. But God sees to take care of things, offerings that were given things that were done that are not shouted from the rooftops, but they’re done with a heart of love and obedience to the Lord.

and say, so we’re in need and we need you to show up. This is what she’s doing. She’s bringing a remembrance to the life that her husband lived because she’s making a request for help because she’s saying, have a right. I have a right to ask this. I have a right to get help because of what you’ve seen in the life of my husband. Okay. So what she’s saying is that his life

showed, it proved, it came to pass, it happened, it became. A life lived in fear of the Lord with proof and evidence. It means that Elisha saw firsthand how the man lived a godly life, a righteous life, and how he honored the Lord. He was obedient and respectful.

Jaime Luce (18:57.78)
So although we’re about to see there were creditors, he was in debt, this statement is preempting the problem because she is wanting to say, this is not a mark on his character. To say that he was in debt, which would normally mean that you didn’t handle your finances right. She’s saying, no, there are circumstances for this.

There are circumstances that led to this and this is how he lived. So he was a righteous man. So we’re dealing with something we shouldn’t have to be dealing with. She’s trying to lay the groundwork. This is unfair. This isn’t righteous. This isn’t a right judgment against us. So she was desperate in this. if she, it goes on to say that,

The the creditors are coming and they’re gonna take her two sons and make them slaves Well for a widow if you don’t have sons to provide for you during this time You are destitute Absolutely destitute she needs her sons they need to be working to care for her to care for themselves and to make sure that they’re living righteously to do right so we have to and we don’t know if these sons of hers

we’re also going to then be somehow a part of the sons of the prophets. It’s very possible. So, but we don’t know. All we know is what life her husband has lived. Now I looked into this because if her sons are lost and she and they are now left with nothing she knew that would not be a righteous outcome according to the life that she’s lived. It’s like saying,

I’ve sown all the right seed and there is no crop. There’s nothing to show for it. That’s not, that’s not a, it’s not only not right. It’s, it’s as if you grew the crop and somebody stole it. You did everything right and it was stolen. So there needs to be a rightness, a righteousness done on her behalf. So Josephus, who is one of

Jaime Luce (21:17.698)
the most well-known Jewish historians for the Bible. Mentioned in one of his works, I forgot to write down the name of the book itself, which he stated that Jewish tradition says this all over in their documentation, that her husband was actually Obadiah. Now we’ve talked about Obadiah on here. Obadiah was the one who served King Ahab and who

who when Jezebel was going after all the prophets and killing all the prophets, Obadiah went and hid all, 100 prophets and fed them, protected them, sheltered them and gave them food and water, bread and water to care for them, to keep them until it was safe for them. And this is, he writes about this. Josephus says that this woman was the wife of Obadiah. Obadiah was the man.

who hid prophets of God, you can look this up on Google, from Jezebel, giving them safety bread and water and put his life in jeopardy. So, and we talked about that too. He put his life in jeopardy. Elijah presents himself to Obadiah and says, Obadiah, I want you to go, because he served Ahab. I want you to go and I want you to tell King Ahab I’m here and I wanna talk to him. And he says, I can’t do that. He’s been hunting you down.

Everyone says, you’re not here, you’re not here. He’s going to kill me if I go tell him you’re here. And Elijah says, I want you to go do it. It’s okay. You’ll be okay. So he obeys, but he knows his life is at risk. So he not only risked his life to take care of the prophets, he risked his life with Elijah. I guarantee you, Elisha knew all about this. He had heard by this time everything Obadiah had done. And

The Jewish tradition states that Obadiah, so this is real important, that Obadiah had borrowed money in order that he could save those profits, to feed them and shelter them, 100 men. That he had actually handled his finances well, but to take on caring for 100 men, he had to borrow money. So she’s reminding Elisha, you know how righteous he was in what he did.

Jaime Luce (23:44.012)
We’re in debt now and now that he’s dead, the creditors coming and he wants my sons to pay up. My husband died before he could pay it back. That that’s an unfair situation. That’s a diff. That’s really a place of not only is she grieving, but she can’t lose her sons and grieve the loss of her sons going into slavery and being destitute and losing everything when her husband did everything right. He did everything right.

But God cares about that. God sees all the times that you have been obedient, all the times that you have sacrificed, all the times that you have put your desires aside to sacrifice for somebody else. Those things matter. Those times matter. They matter.

If this is true about what Josephus says, if Jewish tradition correctly talks about this, she is saying to Elisha, you know my servant feared God. She’s saying without a doubt, you know what’s righteous and you know what I’m dealing with is not righteous.

So this is also what I love about what she did. She says, basically, give me justice. Give me justice. Do you need to cry that out today? Are you facing a circumstance and you’re saying, God, this isn’t right. It’s not right. Give me justice.

He will hear you and he will answer that cry. He will hear you and answer that cry. It is an understanding that she had, a mindset she had, and we need to have this for ourselves, that she had a right to expect a supernatural help for the life of service that her husband gave to protect the lives of so many. She knew that.

Jaime Luce (25:51.05)
It’s as if she was saying, my husband by his life paid over and over again by risking life and limb into an account. But that accounts his name, but that account affects me. And now that he’s dead, I’m saying I should have access to that account. I should have access to that. I should have the benefit of that. And you may be thinking, but I don’t have a track record like that, Jaime . I wasn’t righteous.

I’m in this situation because I got myself here. I don’t have family that feared God. I didn’t come from a line where my grandmother was praying for me to make sure that I would be saved. Even if that’s the case, even if you haven’t been faithful, we can know that we can because of what Christ did for us, the one whom we are calling on, if you have given your life to Jesus Christ, if you have

called on His name for salvation, you have a line to call on. You have the righteousness of Christ to call on. You have the justice of the true just judge of the earth to call on. You have an advocate with the Father that Jesus is ever making intercession for you at the right hand of the Father. You have what you need, whether you’re earthly family or not.

was righteous, whether you were married to a righteous person or not, whether you yourself have come from a righteous background and lived faithfully or not. When you call on the name of Jesus, you have that same authority and access. You have access to every benefit that comes from the sacrifice.

that Jesus made for you.

Jaime Luce (27:54.526)
Elisha knew that she was putting a demand on him for a miracle by right. And today, let’s do the same. Let’s put a demand for that miracle on our behalf because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ. But because Obadiah was dead, he gave her and her sons, now listen to this, he gave her and her sons

an opportunity for themselves to walk in obedience and to take possession of that supernatural miracle. He’s giving them an opportunity and Jesus gives us the same opportunity no matter what we are facing. When Elisha says to her, what shall I do for you?

He’s saying, I hear you, you’re right. What do you want me to do for you? And then he asks this question. And this is a question that gets answered to us as well. This is the question. What do you have in your house? What resource do you have? Now I’m not gonna be talking about this today, but this passage actually is a really great passage in talking about business and…

finances and that type of thing. I’m just not focusing on that today. But if you look at that scripture, when he says, what do you have in your house? There are so many stories I’ve heard where people understood, what is the talent that God has given me? What is something that I enjoy, that I have availability to me right now that I can do? And they have turned those things into businesses that have changed their lives. So I’m just throwing that in there as a side note.

but he asked her, do you have? Not what your husband did. I see what your husband did. You’re right. You have access supernaturally, but we have to deal with this in the natural because you have natural creditors coming. So there’s a partnership between what we have in the natural, what we do in the natural and how we access the supernatural for our life. There is an obedience opportunity, an opportunity for obedience. And it is an opportunity to

Jaime Luce (30:21.55)
partner with the one who can do what we cannot do. Okay. So what do you have in your house? And she says, your maid servant has nothing in the house, but a jar of oil. I’ve just got a jar of oil. No food, no, no flour to make anything. I just have oil. are down to our last bit. This is all I have.

a little bit of oil. No matter how desperate you feel today, I can guarantee you have more in your possession than a little oil. I can guarantee it. You’ve got more than a little oil. Unless you are listening to this or watching this and you are in what we would consider a third-rule country and destitute, maybe you only have a little bit of oil. Regardless if you are someone who has just that.

or you have far more than that in your house. There is something you can do. What is God asking you to do? Now I’m not saying that it’s always a monetary thing and that you’re always gonna be doing that, but there is a point of obedience. Take what you have. What is God showing you that you have access to, that you can partner with Him in obedience? Is it your words? Does He want you to go talk to somebody?

Does he want you to go deal with something in a particular way? Does he want you to write a letter? Does he want you to go talk to a pastor? he want you to go, does he want you to cut something off? Does he want you to sew, so to speak, to plant into something, to do something in a particular area, to give your time, to sacrifice, to offer to somebody else?

Like what does he want you to do? A couple months ago, I had my sister Jenny Brown on the program and we talked about sewing for what you want to reap basically. Sew to what you wanna see. And we talked about how there’s ways in our life that we can sew to the thing that we’re wanting to see a bountiful crop from. She had a friend who was single who wanted to be married and.

Jaime Luce (32:44.582)
she didn’t have, she couldn’t just make herself be married. What are going to do? And that was the cry of her heart. I want to be married. You know, God had her do. She sewed into other couples by watching their children. Every Valentine’s day, she would watch somebody’s children so that they could go and be blessed in their marriage and sew that time and that sacrifice and that seed so that someday she would reap from that. What obedience thing does God want you to do?

What do you have in your house? What do you have available to you? What do you have? He says, what do you have? She says, nothing but a jar of oil. Then he said, go borrow vessels from everywhere. He is putting out the instruction, putting out the answer. Now, if she wouldn’t have done this, she’d have lost her sons and it would have been exactly as she said.

but because she accepted the invitation to obedience, she has an answer in front of her and something she needs to do. That’s the partnership. So many times we pray and cry out to God and we just want God to be a genie in the bottle and poof, make it be, whatever it is, just make it be. And we remove ourselves completely from the occasion. And we have to say, equation, sorry. And we have to say, what is it that you want me to do, Lord, to partner with this?

Now, what if the Lord says to you, I just want you to pray about this, pray about the people involved, pray about the circumstances, just pray. Maybe you’re supposed to just pray, but maybe there’s something he wants you to do. Maybe you’re supposed to call somebody and pray for them. I don’t know. It could be anything. I’m not, this isn’t a formula, but we have to say, okay, Lord, in order to tap into this supernatural, I have to take what I have in my natural.

my time, my resources, my energy, my heart, my emotions, whatever. What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do Lord? So that I can see this answer met, this need met. Go borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors. Empty vessels, do not gather just a few.

Jaime Luce (35:07.31)
He’s saying get as much as you possibly can. And she did. She did.

Jaime Luce (35:22.028)
I want to, let me, I’ll read this again. I’ll read the end again and see what God did, but I want to show you how this pertains to you today.

There are promises that God has given us and by His sacrifice, by His doing, He has made this answer available. I don’t know what you need today. This woman needed a debt paid and maybe you have a debt today that needs to be paid. Maybe you have hangover debt from 2025. Now we need to learn not to go back into debt of course, if we get free from debt.

That’s up to us to be good stewards. But whatever you need today may not be about money at all. It may not, it could be that you have a child who’s away from you, away from God, someone who’s lost an addiction. You could have a marriage that’s falling apart and the relationship is not where it needs to be. You could have, you could be running from the call of God on your life. You could be.

in need of a job and you don’t know where to turn and what to do. You say, God, I need your help. Maybe you’re in the midst of something and it’s just puzzling to you and you know you need to do something, you don’t know what to do. You just don’t know what to do. We can cry out to God who will hear and answer prayer. So let’s look just real quick at what she did and let’s look what God does for us. Verse four, I’m sorry, let’s go to verse five.

So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons who brought the vessels to her. So they did exactly what they were commanded to do. And she poured it out. You might feel like you have to, by faith, just keep pouring out. Just keep pouring out.

Jaime Luce (37:24.61)
Maybe it’s the people around you. Maybe the people around you are empty vessels. And you think there’s so much I want to do and this is all I have. Just keep pouring out the oil. Just keep pouring it out. Pour out for wherever it is, whoever it is that comes, just keep pouring it out. In obedience, just keep pouring it out. Even when you think this is all I have left, pour it out. Pour it out.

This man Obadiah went into debt to care for and pour out to those who were in need at risk and cost to himself. He poured it out. Isn’t it interesting that now she has to pour out? That she’s partnering in the same activity that he had partnered in? I know it’s picturesque. It’s very poetic.

It’s not literally, she’s not literally doing that, but that’s the symbolism here, or at least one of the symbolisms here. She poured it out. Now it came to pass. So after some time, it came to pass when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, bring me another vessel. And he said to her, there is not another vessel. So the oil ceased. And she came and told the man of God and said,

go sell the oil and pay your debt and you and your sons live on the rest. God had provided enough to not only pay the debt, but he always does above and beyond what we could ask or think. He’s so good. He doesn’t just provide enough. He provides ample enough, overflow.

He’s so good to us. He meets every need. You can say, I’ve got so many issues. And he can say, I will fill all of those vessels. I will pay the debt and then there will be plenty for you to live on afterward. You aren’t going to have to live in fear. I will take care of you. God takes care of his children. We have a good father and he loves you and you can bring any need to him.

Jaime Luce (39:52.938)
He will meet you where you are now He might give you instructions of what you need to do You don’t get to sit lazy lazily and and expect God to do all the heavy lifting He does the heavy lifting but he expects you to partner with him That’s what being yoked with him means that I am in partnership with him. We come into covenant with him and He will always be faithful to his covenant if he gives you an instruction and you obey that instruction

You have a guarantee that you’re going to get the answer that you need. If He has instructed you and you have obeyed, you have nothing to fear. You have nothing to fear. God is so faithful, more faithful than you could ever think He could be. He’s more faithful. We talked about that a couple of weeks ago. You can forget. You can be like John the Baptist’s father and really kind of

Believe God to do it, cause you ask, but then when he starts to answer, you don’t really believe he’s gonna do it. And he’s so faithful, he does what you kind of forget about and put on the shelf and ignore. He’s just, he’s just that good. Hi, my name is Jaime Luce. I wanted to share with you some information about a brand new book entitled, You Don’t Need Money, You Just Need God. It’s a playbook for miraculous provision.

Jaime Luce (42:05.494)
All right, I want to take us to a couple of passages of scripture. I want you to know that you have this word. This word is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword. It divides between soul and spirit. This word is our foundation. We stand on the word. This word is immovable. It never changes.

Everything can pass away, but His Word will never pass away. You have this Word. So I’m going to give you this Word today so that you can stand on this promise to receive what you need from God today. Go to Isaiah 61. We’re going to read verses 1 to 3. And it says, The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor.

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison for those who are bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes.

the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. Now that passage is being prophetically spoken about what will happen when Jesus comes.

When Jesus comes and does what Jesus is going to do all of these promises for Israel and then we are now Israel because we have accepted him as our Lord and savior. We are now the two men who become one. Uh, that scripture talks about the one new man. This is us. We Christians are now the children of God. We, we have access to the, we are the offspring and

Jaime Luce (44:29.622)
and have access to all the benefits of Abraham our father. And Abraham was the father of our faith. We believe by faith that we have all of these promises available to us. So that was spoken in Isaiah, okay? This is what is available. And if you identify with any of those, that you have your poor and you need a good word spoken to you to care for the problem of your being poor. If you have a broken heart,

If you feel like you are bound and you don’t have freedom or you are a captive to something, maybe addiction has got a stranglehold on you or someone that you love and know. You need this year to be the acceptable year of the Lord. You need a good year. What about vengeance? Do you need God to bring justice to a circumstance? What about mourning? Are you mourning? Do you need to be comforted?

Do you need joy? Do you need beauty for ashes? Have you been walking around with this sadness and oppression? This is why Jesus came. This is why he came. So now I want you to read Luke 4, and we’re gonna read verses 16 to 21. Luke 4, Luke.

and we’re gonna read verses 16 to 21. Actually, yeah, 16 to 21. So he came to Nazareth, speaking of Jesus, where he had been brought up. And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. And he was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah, which we just read, Isaiah 61.

And when he opened the book, he found the place where it was written. The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and to recovery and recovery of sight to the blind. Do you know someone who doesn’t know the Lord? They’re just blind. You need to see.

Jaime Luce (46:54.124)
They need to see, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. He then closed the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And all eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them,

day, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Jesus did come. The word was correct. It came to pass. It came to pass because Jesus came. And then Jesus now says, this is why I came. He died, was crucified in our place, shed his blood.

to cover all of our sin, died and resurrected that His new life meant we would have brand new life. That we not only have it naturally while we have to live on this earth, but it is eternal that we have eternal salvation as well. Whatever you are believing God for today, cry out to Him, cry out to Him. You have access

to put a demand on the word of God because Jesus is the righteous one. He is the righteous judge and our God will do right by us. The scripture says, will not the judge of all the earth do right? Yes, my friend, he will. Yes, he will. What do you have need of today? Bring it before him, partner with him, accept the invitation to obedience.

and receive the answer that you need today. Let me pray for you. Heavenly Father, we are just so grateful for your word. We’re so grateful for Jesus that you sent your Son, that you sent the Holy Spirit to be with us now that Jesus is at the right hand interceding for us and we have the comforter with us. We have your presence with us.

Jaime Luce (49:21.4)
that even in the waiting, even in the time where we walk out that obedience and we await the answer to what we are struggling with, to our problem, Father, you are the answer and we come to you today. We beseech you today. We stand before the courtroom of our Father today and we say, give us justice, God. Give us justice for the righteousness of your Son.

For we stand not in our own righteousness, but we stand in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. You know the price that he paid for us and we are asking for deliverance. We are asking for answers. We are asking that the prayers and the needs that we have be met, that your provision would not just touch the need that we have, but would overflow and take care of us far beyond this problem. God, we lift them to you today and we know that you are faithful.

We stand believing you today. We give you what we have and we ask you to use it. Use our obedience, God, for your glory. The scripture said it was for your glory. We give you all the glory for what you do. We take none for we have none. All we have and all we own was our sin, but we gave it to you and your blood covered it and made a way for us.

So we lay hold of those answers today and we get ready to receive the answer to our prayers. And it is in your son’s name we pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Well, take the word today. Make this your foundation today. Stand on the promises of God today. Maybe share this today. Maybe one of the acts of obedience for you today is to share this word with someone who needs it today. If this has blessed you, you can help me out. You can be a blessing to me. Give us a thumbs up.
