Where to dive in:

(0:00:01) – Understanding Supernatural Experiences in Scripture (14 Minutes)

This chapter examines the significance of approaching God with humility and obedience, highlighting the importance of respecting and adhering to divine instruction. I share insights on dealing with supernatural experiences, acknowledging the controversy and confusion that often surrounds them, especially in light of recent prophetic words that failed to materialize in past elections. Through a study of Matthew 17:1-9, we look at the Mount of Transfiguration to understand the scriptural context of supernatural encounters. Emphasizing the need for discernment, I discuss the disciples’ reaction to Jesus’ transformation and the heavenly voice they heard, urging us to take lessons from this passage into the new year.

(0:14:26) – Understanding and Following Jesus’ Instructions (8 Minutes)

This chapter examines Peter’s response during the Transfiguration, highlighting his immediate, yet misguided, reaction to build tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. We explore Peter’s humanity and how his actions reflect a common tendency to misinterpret spiritual experiences. The discussion then shifts to the divine correction that follows, where God’s voice from heaven instructs them to “Listen to him,” referring to Jesus. I reflect on the significance of this command, considering the broader context of the Jewish laws and prophecies, emphasizing the importance of focusing on Jesus’ words rather than getting caught up in the supernatural aspect of the experience. The chapter concludes by encouraging listeners to prioritize obedience to Jesus’ teachings over the pursuit of spiritual experiences, drawing a parallel to Mary’s advice at the wedding of Cana and addressing the Pharisees’ demands for signs from Jesus.

(0:22:52) – The Purpose of Supernatural Experiences (13 Minutes)

This chapter examines the motives behind our desire for supernatural experiences and the proper attitude we should have towards them. I highlight the importance of seeking such experiences not just for emotional fulfillment but for divine guidance and instruction. Reflecting on biblical accounts, I emphasize the necessity of fear and awe in authentic encounters with God, suggesting that a lack of reverence may indicate a less genuine experience. The discussion also touches on the role of prophets and figures like Moses, who received God’s commands on the mountaintop to share with the people below, underscoring the connection between divine revelation and practical application in our lives. Finally, I address the current cultural attitudes towards masculinity, advocating for respect and honor towards men, in line with biblical principles.

(0:36:00) – Listen to Jesus’ Instructions (15 Minutes)

This chapter examines the importance of focusing on Jesus’s teachings to achieve spiritual victory, emphasizing that true guidance comes from his word rather than solely from supernatural experiences. I explore the concept that while mountaintop experiences can be enlightening, they can also become distractions if they draw us away from Jesus’s message. We consider the biblical account where God instructs the disciples to listen to Jesus, reinforcing the need for a personal, close relationship with him, beyond collective worship. The discussion includes a reflection on the verses from Matthew 16, where Jesus prepares his disciples for upcoming challenges, teaching them to prioritize divine over worldly concerns. The key takeaway is the necessity of setting our minds on God’s teachings to navigate the distractions and troubles of the present times.

I’m so excited about this book! I didn’t want to write something that simply told about the financial miracles God has done for me. But I wanted to practically help others know how to have the same kind of results. So this book is a playbook. Just like in sports. It will have the story of the need we faced from small to the astronomically huge and how God provided every time. Then we will give you what I call “the play call.” After you understand the Biblical method that was used you are then given a teaching on how to use that knowledge. I can promise it will give you the tools to change your situation and to realize that “You Don’t Need Money. You Just Need God.”

00:00 – Jaime Luce (Host)
We need to understand this God is not, he has not changed. And when we receive an instruction from Father God, we need to have ah, the fear of God, and ah of all, honor and respect for that word and walk in obedience to that word. And if I am not afraid, then I am not in a place of humility, then I think more highly of myself than I thought. Welcome to the Jamie Luce Podcast. Thank you for tuning in today. It’s my pleasure to spend some time in the word of God with you and I wanted to talk today with you about oh boy, what do we do with supernatural experiences? The supernatural can be controversial, it can be confusing, it can be exciting. I have had supernatural experiences, but what to do with them? I believe so much in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and I have watched the Lord use them in my life many different ways over many years.

01:24
And as I read this passage today, I really felt that I needed to share with you some things out of the word of God. Because the supernatural. You know this is an election year, this is 2024. And things are getting heated up real quick and in the last election there was really a debacle of prophetic words and things coming across the airwaves For a good year, two years. It was astonishing and those things never came to pass. Those words never came to pass and we can question all day long all about those words and your opinion will be most likely based off of your belief system, what you’ve experienced and depending on what side of the aisle you fall in regard to what you believe about supernatural things. But I really wanted to bring you some solid word today about supernatural experiences.

02:38
I’m not going to tell you that you should believe one way or the other. I’m going to show you what we see in Scripture as a supernatural experience and the instruction that came because of that experience. So if you want to learn today, I’ve got some stuff for you that you’re going to want to write some notes down. So get your Bibles, get your notepads, get your pens and paper. If you take notes on your phone, good for you. I just can’t do that. My thumb’s just that. It just doesn’t work for me. It’ll look like gobbledygook when I’m done. I like good old fashioned pen and paper.

03:15
But anyway, our Scripture reference today is Matthew, chapter 17, and I’m going to start with verses 1 through 9. We will read more, but that’s where I want to start today and I want you to listen closely to the words of the Scripture. If you can, I want you just for a few moments, no matter what you’ve known, what you think you know, no matter what you’ve experienced, I just want you to put all that aside for a moment and just listen to the Scripture, just listen to the word of God and let’s go from there, and hopefully there will be a lot that we can glean from this and learn from this and grow from this for this new year and take these lessons we learn and really put them to use this year, because this will be a good year for them. This particular passage is the Mount of Transfiguration, and yet this is right on the heels of, at least in the book of Matthew. It is right on the heels of Jesus talking to Peter and Peter proclaiming you are the Son of God, and then Jesus turning around and rebuking Peter within verses to say get behind me, satan, you are a hindrance to me, and so those things. Keep in mind. That’s the context of where we are. Jesus, in his explanation to his rebuke of Peter, tells his disciples that they’re going to have to pick up their cross and follow him, and he gives a little bit of a dissertation there about that and we’ll hit that today. But I just want you to see the context of them and the Mount of Transfiguration so you understand where we are in Scripture. It would be good for you to go back and read.

05:15
You know we put in these in our Bibles. They were to make it easier for reference, so we could find our place more easily. We inserted chapters and verses but they were not written that way. So these are written in continuous flow. So that’s why the context is so very important. It’s not like, okay, we talked about that end of chapter, now we go to the next chapter and it could be something totally different. That’s not the way the Word of God is written. They were written like letters so, and some of them were actual letters, but they were written in a particular flow and context as a whole. So it’s very important to know what you’re reading, what’s before it, what comes after it, so you get the true heart of the message.

06:01
But anyway, let’s go to Matthew, chapter 17, and I’ll begin in verse one. We’ll read through nine, and after six days, jesus took with him Peter and James and John, his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them and his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them and a voice from the cloud said this is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him. When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. But Jesus came and touched them saying Rise and have no fear. And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, jesus commanded them tell no one the vision until the Son of man is raised from the dead.

07:51
Now it goes on, but I’m stopping right there for now. So, if we can get this whole scenario, picture this in your mind, these men have been taught a lot, they’ve been corrected. They’ve been told that Jesus. They don’t understand it yet they don’t like it. He’s told them he’s going to die and suffer. Peter so disagrees with it and does not want to hear it. That he tells Jesus Far be it from you. Jesus has to correct him. He rebukes him. He tells him you don’t have the things of God in mind, you have the things of man, of this earth, of this life in mind. You don’t have the things of God in mind. So they’re going through this whole understanding and teaching and rebuking and correcting and they come to the foot of the mountain and Jesus only takes with him Peter, james and John up this mountain. So please try to understand their mindset. They’re very much being taught and shown many things right now and Jesus is moving fast.

08:55
At one point he shows frustration because he says how long do I have to be with you? I mean, he has a mission in mind. He is a focused, he knows what he’s here for. He understood that his time did not start until a particular time. That’s why he had the exchange with his mother at the wedding of Cana that it’s not my time yet. He knew that he was at a certain time to start his ministry and he was to finish it on a particular day and he had a lot to do, to get done. And with that kind of focus laser focus these disciples need to keep up. They need to know exactly and Jesus had said to us, said to them I only do what I see my father doing, I only say what I hear my father saying. I mean, these are things we have to understand, this dynamic, and this was again laser focused time.

09:45
So they are hiking up this mountain and they get up to the top of this mountain and before their eyes, jesus is literally transfigured. They don’t see him standing there in a human form, with human body that is earthbound, constrained by flesh. What they see is his transfigured. They see him glorified. They see him and it says his face shown like the sun Okay, that’s not what a normal face looks like. So this can be very scary what you’re seeing. They are probably in great awe at what they’re seeing. But what Jesus calls this experience is interesting because we call it in our Bible, my Bible. It might say this in your Bible too. They tend to put headings over certain passages of scripture and it says the transfiguration and we think what a glorifying word. He was transfigured before them, but Jesus didn’t call it the transfiguration. Jesus said in verse nine tell no one the vision, tell no one the vision. So this was a vision they were seeing. Okay, for one, a vision is supernatural all by itself. That’s just supernatural all by itself. For three people to see the exact same vision at the exact same time as it’s happening, that is like ultra supernatural. I don’t know if there are levels, but that just seems like even more so. This was supernatural. They were having a supernatural experience.

11:33
I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a vision that way. I feel that when I have prayed, there are times when I it’s like I see a picture of something and I have never I’ve been very careful, I’ve never said that was God. I don’t know if that’s my. I don’t know if I’m seeing a type of vision. I don’t know if. I don’t know if I would classify it as that or if my mind is picturing what my spirit is saying and putting a picture to it. That’s very possible. I do know that when I’ve had them, that the picture, the meaning or what is being communicated to me is coming from my spirit. Now, what I am seeing, it’s not a vision happening before me. It’s not like a, a videotape playing. It’s just me seeing something that I feel is being said to me. It helps me understand what I’m seeing, or what I’m hearing in my spirit, what, what seems to be happening from that prayer time, or or maybe what the Lord is revealing to my heart through that relationship. But I know people. In fact my husband has said on occasion that there are times when it’s almost as if a movie is happening before him in his mind and the Lord is usually giving him instruction or showing him something that’s going to come.

13:03
So we have these supernatural experiences and in this particular passage, jesus says this is a vision. And what’s interesting about this vision is so who’s in the supernatural experience? Let’s ask a bunch of questions about this, let’s let’s kind of dig into this. They see Moses. Now we can look at that and say, okay, moses represents the law, right, so the law is present. Elijah’s there, so the prophets there. And how many times did we see Jesus would say to the Pharisees the law and the prophets. Or in teaching, the law and the prophets, the law and the prophets. So Moses and the prophets. But then there’s also Jesus, who is the son of God, the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He’s the fulfillment of the law and the prophets. He’s the, he’s the, the culmination of the law and the prophets. And I should have looked it up for you, but the passage that says the prophets before there. They were those who wished for this day, to see this day. So here is Jesus talking with Moses, talking with Elijah. Okay, and what?

14:26
What did the disciples do with this experience? I mean, they’re seeing it happen in the experience, while it’s, while the experience is happening. What does Peter do? Now? James and John are quiet in this. We don’t really know for sure their thoughts, but we know Peter’s. I’m so grateful for Peter because, boy, we we learn a lot from Peter and we can see our humanity and ourselves in Peter. But in this, peter does something. While this vision is occurring, he says to Jesus oh, it’s good that we’re here. If you would like, I could build a tent for each one of you. So immediately Peter and we know this by the rest of what we read in scripture Peter misunderstands the vision right off the bat.

15:27
Now, this is human nature. You can, you can actually have a legitimate supernatural experience, and while you’re having it, you could have a wrong interpretation of what that vision is. And it doesn’t mean that the vision was wrong. It doesn’t mean the vision wasn’t real, that it wasn’t really happening. It was very real. It was all truth. It was all for great purpose, for God’s purpose. God wanted Jesus, wanted the disciples to see this, to experience this.

16:03
And yet Peter misunderstood right in the middle of it. He did not understand this vision. He’s acting in a way that it’s going to stay this way. We’ve seen you, you can just imagine what’s running through Peter’s head. It’s happening. The kingdom of God is coming. We’re right here. We’re going to build the tents. Right here. We’re going to start ruling and reigning, right here.

16:25
I mean you could just see, see how he would run with that, because he is literally seeing Jesus glorified, I mean in glory, standing there before him with the prophet there who they have been foretold Elijah would come. I mean they. I can only imagine the things running through their head and the and the thoughts running through their mind. And Peter misunderstands. So he says here, he’s misunderstood.

16:53
That misunderstanding, that not understanding what, why this is being shown to them, what they are to understand from it, is not only a misunderstanding, but it’s now for Peter, it’s now a distraction. So, instead of watching and learning and listening. He wants to start doing something with that supernatural experience. Lord, lord, he’s interrupting. Lord, if this is good, you want us to make a tent, and Father God has to do something in that moment. So then, what did they hear in that moment? Again, it’s a correcting moment for Peter. They hear a very focused statement from heaven that is a command to them and instruction to them, and it is God saying to them this is my beloved son, in whom I’m well pleased. Listen to him. Listen to him. Interesting, because If you’re looking at this from more of a Jewish mindset, you don’t realize.

18:12
Because Jesus is having to confront the Pharisees and Sadducees over and over again, and in this confrontation, it’s about law. And here you have law standing on this mount of transfiguration. You have prophets for telling of Jesus, but they were always killed. The prophets were always killed. They weren’t listened to, they were ignored. Very rarely did a king listen to the prophet. It was beautiful when they did, but very rarely would they do it, especially when it came to. They would love the prophetic words that the Messiah is coming and he’s going to change all this and that they’re going to be blessed, but they would never listen to the words that came saying but your life isn’t right. You’ve got to get yourself right. You’ve got to fix what’s going on in you, get your hearts right, come back to me, surrender to me wholly, with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind. They didn’t want to hear those kind of words.

19:05
And in this message, what is Father saying? He’s saying okay, there’s law and there’s prophets. Listen to Jesus. I mean, all the prophecies pointed to Jesus. All the law points to a redeemer. There is sin and needs redemption. All of it points to Jesus. So God is in essence saying don’t get distracted with the law, don’t get distracted with the prophecies. What my son says, that’s what I want you to do. Whatever he says, do it. Doesn’t that remind you of Mary at the wedding of Cana? And she says to the servants whatever he says to you, do it. This is the mindset we have to have.

19:57
Father doesn’t want us to be distracted by whatever supernatural experience that he may want us to experience and be a part of. He’s saying don’t get caught up in the experience. What’s important is what I say and what I tell you to do. That’s what’s important. Don’t go seeking after. What did the Pharisees constantly say to Jesus They’d come to him and say show us a sign. They were looking for the supernatural experiences and Jesus said that they were an evil and adulterous generation and that he wasn’t going to give them one, that the only sign to them would be basically his death and resurrection. He said it would be like Jonah Three days in the grave and he spit out on land. So Jesus comes forth. There is no other. Jesus wasn’t going to give into this. This isn’t about the experience and I want to encourage you. Hear me, I believe in them, oh, and they’re wonderful when you have them. But don’t get distracted by the experience. Don’t chase the experience. Don’t don’t let your focus and your your heart go after the experience. You need to hear what the father saying. You need to do what Jesus says. That’s why we have this word. That’s why we have this word. We have to do what he tells us to do. It’s that simple. If you love me, you’ll follow my commandments. You’ll do what I tell you to do if you love me. It’s just that simple. It’s just that simple. Let’s use this mountain experience, because a mountain experience has happened more than one.

21:52

You don’t need money, you just need Godcom. This book is available today.

22:52
Once and I you know a supernatural experience can feel like a mountain top experience. Or when you get the victory, you have a mountain top experience and we love those. I want you to have those, I want those, but at the same time, we have to realize we’re not going to live on this. We’re not going to live there. You go there to gain instructions. Okay, you go there to gain instructions. So what do we want, then? I want you to have a right let’s correct a desire in our flesh for wanting and wanting for the right reasons. Let’s want it for the right reasons the supernatural experience.

23:47
So what do we want from a supernatural manifestation? What are we wanting from them? If you are somebody who wants to experience them, I want you to think about this for yourself personally. What are you wanting from it? What is it doing for you? Is it just because it’s in those moments that you feel close to God? Is it that you think that now, that means that you are now in a higher place spiritually? Does it mean it doesn’t make you just feel good? What is it about the supernatural experience that you are wanting it? What are you wanting to get from it? Because if we dive down onto that and can understand our own heart and that, we can find where the motive of our heart is. If my motive in my heart is well, lord, I want that, because I want to hear from you, because, truthfully, when Moses was in the desert with the children of Israel, god actually invited all of the people of Israel to come up the mountain to have an experience with him, and the truth was they were so frightened by an authentic experience with God that they did not want to go and have that mountaintop experience. They didn’t want it. It’s so frightened them and we see that it frightened the disciples as well. I mean, they were afraid and Jesus had to go to them and tell them not to be afraid. He had to touch them and tell them not to be afraid. They were terrified.

25:30
I think we call a lot of things supernatural experiences that really aren’t. I hope that doesn’t offend you, but if it does, I’m sorry. We call a lot of things supernatural that we just do in our emotional state and we feel a lot of things because we allow ourselves to feel them. But if you don’t have the fear and awe of God when you’re having a supernatural experience, you have to question its authenticity, because all through scripture we saw people prostrating themselves. Now, not every time, mary, when Mary was approached by the angel, she was confused. She wasn’t terrified, she was confused. But most experiences, especially with angels appearing people, were terrified. They were terrified. Daniel was like a dead man, fell like a dead man and needed God or needed the angel to touch him and revive him, to be able to even be able to hear the words of God and deal with it.

26:38
Ezekiel, these experiences are crazy, so there has to be a real awe and fear of God. If he’s speaking to you and you don’t have a fear and awe about what he’s about to say, then you’re not reverencing his word and you don’t have enough fear of who he is. If God is legitimately speaking to you and you’re not afraid enough that you need to obey that word, something is very wrong. I’m not talking about yes, our God loves us. I know there’s going to be those who argue you know that’s Old Testament versus New Testament. But God said of himself I don’t change my power, doesn’t change His ability, his power, his glory, his omnipresence, his omnipotence, everything about God. It doesn’t go away, it’s not lessened, my goodness, by sending Jesus. God is not now less than this. Is the God who formed, not just the earth, anything that is that we are still trying to discover and know. That is our God and he is the author of it all. And if the author of it all speaks to me and talks to me. Though he be my father, he is still God and we should have more reverence for our fathers than we do.

28:22
On a side note, we don’t treat our fathers with the honor and respect that they should be. In fact, this world right now is warring against giving any honor and any respect to the males. I applaud you, men. Stand up, be strong. You deserve to be in places of honor and respect. What was the crown of the Proverbs 31 woman? That her husband was honored in the gates? We are to honor men. We are not to demasculize them and to make them into women. If God made them male and female, it’s because he needs males and he needs females and they are for different purposes and they are to you. Give honor where honor is due.

29:13
Anyway, soapbox finished for that. But we need to understand this God is not, he has not changed. And when we receive an instruction from Father God, we need to have ah the fear of God, and ah of all honor and respect for that word and walk in obedience to that word. And if I am not afraid, then I am not in a place of humility, then I think more highly of myself than I ought. Boy, I know that’s a strong word and I was not intending to say that, but it needs to be said.

29:53
So the people were afraid to come up the mountain. But let’s look at Moses. When Moses went up to the mountain, he received commands and instructions that he was to take down the mountain and then give those instructions to the people on how to live and please God. So there was instruction and command given on the mountain to take down the mountain, to live it down the mountain. Okay, you get that picture. Let’s look at the prophets.

30:26
I said this earlier, but in by and large, they were killed. They were killed for their mountain experiences. They would hear the voice of God, but what did they do? They were given instructions to take down the mountain, so to speak, so that the people would understand what God had said. This is how we are to live down here. Jesus, literally before and directly after the mountain, is explaining he’s going to go down and he’s going to suffer and die. He literally has this transfiguration on the mountain and now is there, given instructions while he’s on this mountain experience and comes down the mountain to live it and his living it for him was suffering and dying. It was also resurrection and ascension, but it was to come down that mountain so that he would do what needed to be done down the mountain.

31:35
Can you see where I’m going with this? What did God say on the mountain to the disciples? That is still what he’s saying to us, his disciples. This word was not just for them, folks, we are his disciples. We’re making this practical. We’re taking the scripture and we’re making it practical and applying it to our lives and saying, yes, a supernatural experience, it can be very real and wonderful and transforming, transformative. But whatever he says, we need to take those instructions and those commands and live them. Go down the mountain, you don’t stay there. You take it and you go down the mountain and you do it, you live it.

32:27
So I wrote down a couple takeaways here. Don’t get distracted by how you hear the instructions or where you hear the instruction or from who you hear the instruction. Don’t get distracted by what? If you have a supernatural experience at a particular church, so you do that, but that’s not your church, that God’s called you to, so you don’t go run into that other church all the time Looking for another one of those experiences. Don’t get distracted by the experience. Don’t be an ambulance chaser, so to speak, of supernatural. If God allows you to experience it, praise God. But there’s purpose in it, not just to feel it, not just to continually experience it. It is to take what is being communicated to you From the father and take it down the mountain and then live it and do it.

33:21
The instructions that you receive this is my another takeaway will first be what’s expected of you, but the end result, the final outcome, will be supernatural victory. It will be bigger and far more Reaching than you could have thought or imagined. They’re wonderful and they will produce wonderful things. Victory is ours. This is not a message to say don’t believe for victory and don’t have supernatural experiences. I am not saying that. Please do not hear what I am not saying. I believe in those things. They are wonderful things. I’m saying let’s keep our heads on us. What is the Bible tell us that we have to be sober-minded. We are living in the last days and we must be sober-minded. We cannot be easily distracted. We cannot. There are assignments that we have this year from the Lord Mountain experiences that he is saying. This is my instruction to you take it down the mountain and do it, stay focused.

34:26
I Was looking, I was scrolling through to find some news things this morning and I came across one where there was a gentleman who works for the Republican Party I don’t know his name, I’m sorry, I would tell you that and there was a picture of him with President Trump and I don’t know when the photo was taken, but the article was about this man staying focused on going to every Jurisdiction that he could to Rightfully set up the infrastructure and the oh Gosh, what would everything needed to prepare for these, like the Iowa caucus, for these preliminary things, so that we can name a nominee and to unite the Republican Party. And he talked about the distractions that came to him and his goal. He said when all of these distractions came, he admitted the distractions and he named what they were and how they came, but that he just decided I’m putting my head down, I refuse to be distracted, I have a goal in mind and I’m going to accomplish the goal. And he did a phenomenal job of what he was trying to do. So this is what I’m saying you’re going to have.

36:00
You could the experience itself could be a distraction. You could not be distracted by the experience, but come down the mountain and have all these distractions that come to you, about you know, about every kind of thing other than the thing that you need to be focused on and that you need to be doing. The father is telling you that the only way to victory. Okay, because these experiences, why do we have them? Why does he give instructions? And why did he tell the disciples? Because this is meaningful to us. Why did he tell them this is my son.

36:32
Listen to him. Well, first of all, he’s making sure that we know how much he loves him. He is his beloved son, but he is also saying that in him I’m well pleased, meaning what he does is good and right, and what I want you to do will be good and right if you do what I tell him, what I have said to him. So you listen to him. Okay, read the word. You, you don’t need a supernatural experience to hear what Jesus is saying. You have his word. Knocking over myself, you have his word.

37:04
Read his word and if you’ve got a supernatural experience, praise God even more. You have even more confirmation of that, but you have the word of God how to live, what to do, what not to do, in this experience that they were having, by the sheer fact that the father pulls this state, says this statement to the disciples, was because the disciples were distracted by all three, having all three there, three voices speaking, and that’s a distraction for them, even though it was not meant to be a distraction to them, and the father was telling them the only way to your victory and the only purpose in and and victory you’re going to get from this experience is if it’s through Jesus. Listen to him. We must be close enough in this year, in 2024. We must be close enough to him to hear him. You need to be close enough in your relationship, in your prayer time, in your study of the word, in your seeking after him. You must be close enough that you can hear him.

38:18
And I don’t mean going to church on Sunday and hearing a word. That is for the general assembly. I’m talking about your personal life, you individually, what you need to do in your house, on your job, in your relationships, in your ministry. For you personally, okay, we are to. The instruction is the same, no matter what you experience, no matter how you experience it, no matter what the, no matter what the, what the whole thing looks like, this mountaintop experience or this whole thing, no matter what that looks like, there is one thing that is important for you to know listen to Jesus, listen to him, follow his instructions. That’s what you need.

39:08
So now let’s look. I want us to look at some previous verses, because this is really important. This plays into this whole thing. Like I said, it’s it’s got to be the continuity of scripture and what’s being said. So I want to take us here so that we understand this.

39:23
So in verses in chapter 16, verses 21 through 23 this is when Peter gets rebuked. But this is where Jesus is foretelling of his death. So he’s given plans, he’s starting to tell them what’s about to happen, what’s going to take place, so that they’re not caught off guard and surprised by it. Jesus did everything he could to tell them and prepare them for what was coming, so they wouldn’t be afraid and wouldn’t react wrong, so they wouldn’t get distracted by the noise of the trouble. So we need to be in this mindset in 2024. I don’t want to be distracted by the trouble all around me. I don’t want to listen to the noise and all the voices all around. I need to listen to Jesus only so we get down and drop down to. He finishes telling Peter Get the behind me.

40:09
Satan, you are a hindrance to me, for you are not Setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man. So this is critical. Our minds get set, our minds get set, and it is important that we take the onus to make sure they are set on the right things. He is Jesus is saying you are setting your mind on the things of man. Get your mind on the things of God, because if you will get your mind on the things of God, the things of man will work themselves out around you. Okay, god will take care of those things, but you have got to seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So let’s look at verse 24. Then Jesus disciple.

40:57
Jesus told his disciples if anyone Would come after me, let him deny himself and Take up his cross and follow me, for whoever would save his life will lose it. But whoever loses his life Will find it. For my sake will find it. Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul. For the son of man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his father, and Then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the son of man coming in his kingdom, which they saw Jesus ascend.

42:09
This is the. This is the answer, folks, this is the answer for us during the times that we’re living right now, though these were written over 2,000 years ago. This is the answer for us today, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man. So I would venture to say, as one who firmly believes in the supernatural, that one of our greatest distractions can actually be fixating on the supernatural experience. And our greatest temptation is not setting our minds on the things of God, but on the things of man, or on ourselves and our own agendas, or on the distractions of the things of men going on around us. We don’t go down the mountain and deny ourselves. We have to. We need to go down the mountain and deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Him.

43:24
Listen to the words of Jesus, verse 25 and 26, for whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Folks, there is coming the ultimate supernatural experience, one where we are changed in the twinkling of an eye and what we have done with the instructions that we have been given to walk out down the mountain will be what he judges. Did you do what I told you to do? It’s time to get rid of excuses, it’s time to get rid of distractions and it is time to focus on what God said. It’s time to get those ducks in a line and to say I am focusing on you, lord, your kingdom, first. I’m getting my heart set on you. I am setting my heart on the things of God and not the things of man. Folks, if we do that, if by listening to what Jesus instructs us to do, if we’ll do that, you are guaranteed the mountaintop experiences of victory. You’re guaranteed them.

45:02
Were there hard things? Yes, jesus suffered. He suffered like no one else has suffered. He had suffered and died. He suffered on so many levels because he was innocent of all he had to take on, sin, that he despised, that. He never laid claim to those things and he took them on. He forgave everyone who would spit in his face. He died for them. Folks, he suffered on every level and died.

45:39
But that wasn’t the end of the story. In fact, he knew it. Those were his instructions. He was trying to tell the disciples don’t tell this vision till after I’ve resurrected. I’m going to die. I’m going to be resurrected. They completely forgot. In the chaos and in the distraction of what was happening around them and the shock that it was actually happening. They forgot what he told them. They forgot.

46:09
Write the vision down. Make it plain Whatever the Lord says to you, write it down. Stay focused. Make this year about making sure that you are doing what he says for you to do, and if you do that one thing that he tells you to do, everything else will be taken care of. You don’t have to worry about dealing with ABCDEFGHIJK LMNOP, you don’t have to worry about all those things. Just do what he tells you to do, and if you’ll do that, you’ll receive not only the victory but you’ll see the glory of it. You’ll see the glory of it and all those other things will get taken care of. Let’s not get distracted. I’m not telling you not to have and not to desire a spiritual experience. I’m just saying make sure that your heart’s in the right place, as you do. Make sure that you are decided, you have made up your mind and you are resolved that I will do what he tells me to do. I will do what he tells me to do, and boy will that be a blessing for your life this year. You want a new year this year. Just do what Jesus tells you to do.

47:37
Let me pray for you, father. We thank you that you do minister to us in so many ways, you speak to us in so many ways. And first, father, I want to just say I’m so sorry if we have not honored you, if we have not honored your word. Your word is alive, it’s living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword. It divides even between the soul and spirit. It knows the motives of the heart, this word, and it’s a mirror to us to see what’s happening in our hearts and in our minds.

48:13
Father, I thank you for your word. I ask that you would cleanse our hearts this year, that you would give us laser focus. Help us to get rid of and tear down every distraction and all the chaos that would remove us or put us in fear. You know we could experience you, lord, and we could see what’s happening around us and have fear. But, god, I thank you that you are the answer to every fear, that there is no fear in your perfect love for us and you would not call us to do something you’ve not equipped us to do. And if you have called us to do it, it means you’re already there. Jesus himself said that he only does what he sees the Father doing. That is our promise, because if we will do what you’re already doing, it means you’re already there. You’re already making the provision, you are already opening the doors, you’re already providing the means, you’re already accomplishing the task. We’re just joining you in it. And so, in that process, in that joining Father, I thank you that you would help us to remain focused on your agenda and not our own, setting our minds on you and not on man. Help us, lord. Help us to remain focused this year so that we can see great victory on every side, on every side. I am praying that for your people today, oh God, that they would listen to your word and obey your commands and receive every blessing and every victory and mountaintop experience that you have for them this year. And it’s in your son, jesus’ name we pray. Amen, amen. Thanks for joining with me today. I really feel today like I have.

49:57
I’m trying to be more of a coach to you and coach you on and urge you on into victory. My husband’s personal note he’s a Dallas Cowboy fan because he was born and raised in Texas, so we are Cowboy fans. In fact, my dad’s from Oklahoma and they don’t have a football team other than college, so he was a Dallas fan as well growing up. So we’re Dallas fans and we were disappointed this past week. But here’s the thing you need good coaching too.

50:26
Sometimes you need to be told that’s okay, brush it off. And sometimes you need the coach to get in your face and say get to work. You know you can do better than that. So I want to be an encouragement to you. Yes, and sometimes I want to say okay, but we can do better than this. Look at the mess the world is in. We can do better than this. Come on, join me in this. We can do better than this and we can see great victories on every side. Thank you for being willing to bear the cross, to pick up the cross daily and do what God has called us to do, and we’ll see the results for it.

50:59
