King David, a man after God’s own heart. What was it about David that garnered such a title? Could it be that he feared no man and only feared God? Could it be that he knew how to worship so entirely that he would dance out of his clothes? Could it be that he wouldn’t allow the name of the Lord to be mocked? Though David was deeply flawed, just like we are, and sinned great sins that, to his own admission, were against God, David knew what it was to be desperate for more of God.
As the dear pants for the streams of water, so my soul longs for you, my God. Psalm 42:1b If you have ever felt the power of God working through you, you will understand this longing. When you have filled yourself with Him so that there is no more room for you, you realize that the life you now live is not your own, and the life you now feel pulsing through you desperately wants to be imparted to others.
This life, the life of Jesus Christ, can sustain you through any storm and strengthen you for victory against any battle. The life of Christ is eternal, everlasting, and abundant. Though it is more satisfying than you can describe, it leaves you wanting and needing more. It carries the ability to rise above every obstacle and soar over treacherous terrain. It frees you of all doubt and fear and gives you vision for your future while leading you in the direction to take.
Oh, friends, there is nothing that satisfies like Jesus. More of Him is all that is necessary, and nothing less will do. Seek for Him, and you will find Him. Draw near, and He will draw near to you. Today, come drink from the streams of living water and be filled.
