To quote a line from The Princess Bride, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” Today’s “Christian” commonly has adopted the world’s ideologies and, subsequently, its definitions to define scripture. Let’s get something straight right from the start. God is not schizophrenic. He says what He means, and He means what He says. If God says something is sin, it’s sin. If God says be ye holy as I am holy, it means live holy. If you can’t see a holy righteous God doing it, then you’d better run from it.

In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2 (KJV) Jesus is The Word. The Bible is literally His voice to you. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV). For I am the Lord, I change not. Malachi 3:6 (KJV) You are not so special that God will change it just for you.

We cannot make it say what we want it to say. In the same token, you can’t call yourself a believer and only believe some of what it says while “not agreeing” with the parts that you don’t like. You either believe it, or you don’t. Either obey it or throw it out. It will never fit the current narrative of a secular society. You don’t get to create your own bible and call it holy or God-breathed. By trying, you do just as the children of Israel did in the wilderness and make an image of a god that you created. That is not God, and it will not save you from your sin. Your own made-up god and religion will never gift you an eternity in heaven.

You and I have only a limited amount of time on this earth. You have free will and can choose how you will live it. If you call yourself a Christian, I pray you shake yourself today, drive a stake in the ground, and declare as Joshua did. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” If you have, don’t back down! Stand your ground! Let the Lord of Glory show himself strong on your behalf. Choose you this day, whom you will serve. Then get busy serving Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And if I never meet you here on this earth, I applaud you. I stand with you. And I’ll see you in heaven.
