The crowd of accusers stood hurling their violent lies and threats, desiring to silence Jesus and any who followed Him permanently. Though Pilate was in a place of authority and power and wanted to leave Jesus alone, his weakness, lack of personal conviction, and political agenda governed his decisions. What to do with Jesus would be left to the will of the people.

Luke 23:25 says, “And he released the man for whom they were asking, who had been thrown into prison for a revolt and murder; but he handed Jesus over to their will.”

Right now, Jesus stands accused in every life, house, church, and government. Weak, politically minded, current-day Pilates are waiting for our reply to these accusations! Make no mistake. Jesus will again be handed over the will of the people, to “Your” will! What you do and say right now will have massive consequences. You won’t get another chance.

If Jesus is your King, don’t cower to the crowd of accusers. Don’t join the prevailing voices (v.23) to crucify. The church must stand as the bride of Christ in all of her victory, claiming that the gates of Hell shall not prevail again her!

Today is the day of salvation. Today you choose whom you will serve.
