We have heard “Vengence is mine, says the Lord” preached, as it should be. He is much better at true justice than we could ever be. He also does it with absolute righteousness and with no malice. However, there is an appropriate time to take your revenge.
2 Corinthians 10:5-6 (KJV) says, 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
We are to be ready to take revenge on every lie that has been spoken to us and over us. Those lies most likely have caused us to make decisions that stood in opposition to God’s will and plan for our lives. Those decisions then, in effect, led to actions of disobedience. That disobedience was the weapon of choice that the enemy used against us to rob, kill, and destroy our lives.
But when we cast those thoughts, lies, and disobedience down and walk in obedience to the One who called us, we actually make the enemy pay. Our obedience is what gets revenge on the enemy. We can then take revenge on our past and on the old bad decisions we’ve made. We can say HaHa devil. You don’t win. I win. And now that I know the truth, I am making it my business to make up for lost time. I will take new territory and walk in my purpose. When the enemy comes to tempt you, yell back to him, “now I know to do the opposite, and I might even do it twice. HA!”
So go for it! Take revenge and make the devil pay!
