The dictionary definition of a doppelganger is the double of a living person. John 14:9 (NIV) “Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” The life of the Father was seen and emulated in the life of Jesus Christ. We are also called to be doppelgangers, the doubles of the living and resurrected Son of God. When people see us, they should see Jesus. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
When people see you, who do they see? Who do you look like? Do you look like the culture you live in or the life you came from? Are you a dead ringer for the world and its desires and lusts? Or are you living a life worthy of your calling? Do you represent what Christ represented and a life free from you’re old nature? Do you live to advance the Kingdom, or do you live to satisfy your own natural appetites? Is your meat to do the will of the Father like Jesus and give living water to all those who are thirsty? (John 4) Or do you yourself need a long fresh drink from the wellspring of life because you have been chasing your own will and feeding on things that continue to leave you wanting? Would someone assume you were a Christian because you look so much like one? Romans 8:19 (NKJV) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.
I challenge you today if you call yourself a Christian, to look at your example. If you are hungry, eat from the one who can satisfy your soul. If you are thirsty, drink from the living water so that you will never thirst again. Jesus is at the well waiting. Will you come?
